Kuala Lumpur — Est. bench practice
Mechanical watches
kept to time, carefully.
Rate adjustment, dial restoration and long-term institutional collection care. Each enquiry is answered by the watchmaker, not a coordinator.
01 — Services
What the bench offers
Service 01
Rate Adjustment & Positional Timing
Timing work carried out without a full strip-down, for movements that are clean but running outside their expected daily variance. Bench time is four to seven working days.
- Six-position measurement at full and low wind
- Printed before-and-after trace included
- No further work without owner's word
Service 02
Dial Restoration & Hand Refinishing
Careful work on dials showing lacquer lift, spotting or faded printing. Relume matched to original tone. Aimed at owners of mid-century pieces who want legibility recovered without erasing age.
- Colour matching under three light sources
- Sample panels approved before work proceeds
- Photographic documentation of each stage
Service 03
Workshop Residency for Institutional Collections
An arrangement in which a watchmaker works on a museum or corporate collection over an extended term, servicing pieces in defined order and training in-house staff in handling and storage.
- Written condition survey of whole collection
- Quarterly on-site handling and winding practice
- Closing report with per-piece records
02 — Why Ormolu
What distinguishes the work
Measurement before opinion
Every piece is tested on the timing machine before any adjustment is discussed. The numbers are shown to the owner.
Nothing proceeds without agreement
Scope is confirmed in writing at each stage. If the work found differs from what was quoted, the bench stops and contacts the owner.
Written records for every job
Each completed job leaves with a printed condition record noting what was found, what was done, and the final timing trace.
Preservation over replacement
Original parts are retained wherever structurally sound. Replacement is a last resort, discussed with the owner and documented.
Direct communication
Enquiries are answered by the watchmaker. There is no intermediary layer between the person who owns the watch and the person working on it.
Institutional scope available
Collections of twenty or more mechanical pieces can be managed under a structured residency arrangement with quarterly reviews and staff training.
